Drinks for pre-diabetes people?!

Question: Drinks for pre-diabetes people.?
i am a wine fanatic and love champagne. is there a wine or champagne (like brut champagne) that is ok for people that are borderline diabetic.? My doctor said that i should only have 1 drink a night (i'm female) but i enjoy 2 drinks with meals and really don't want to give that up. is there an alcoholic wine or champagne that is low in sugar.?Health Question & Answer

giggle giggle!!! wine and beers have a tendancy to lower glucose levels quite a bit after initial boost. With food you can get away with a lot of brut champagne or sparkling wine.

There is no such thing as a low sugar alcoholic beverage except for straight alcohol. Most high sugar alcoholic beverages are the syrupy mixed drinks.

My doctor had a cow when she found out I like a beer every night in summer and wine in winter!! She called me an alcoholic and said I shouldn't have ANY wine or beer no matter what. But then too she wanted me to have a totally fat free food plan with lots of potatoes, rice and beans in it!!

Do as you like and lie to the doctor about how many you are having per evening. Cut something else out, like all breads, potatoes, corn, carrots, peas, pastas, dried beans. They are potentially higher in carb than your wines will be.Health Question & Answer

First, understand that "pre-diabetic" is just a kind phrase, a euphemism, saying that you pancreas is failing. Diabetes is defined as a complete OR PARTIAL failure of the pancreas.

So technically, there is NO such thing as "pre-diabetic". You ARE diabetic, you;re just in the beginning stages.

But there is NO CURE for diabetes, only control. And controlling the disease require a lot of self-discipline and will-power. You MUST control you blood sugars, and you do that by limiting the amounts of sugars and carbohydrates you take into you system.

Alcohol is juts a useless carbohydrate. It has NO nutritional value whatsoever. It just makes you blood sugar rise.

So, if you want to avoid the disease getting any worse, you need to start NOW with the control -- and that means following the doctor's orders.

So 1 drink a night, and that's the end of it. Enjoy it now -- when you need meds there will be NO alcohol.Health Question & Answer

Everytime your sugar levels get too high the damage that is done to your body cannot be erased.
If you have Diabetes, check with your physician before you make the decision
to drink alcohol. If you choose to drink alcohol, there are a few things you
should know to reduce the risk of harmful consequences.
HOW DOES ALCOHOL AFFECT MY DIABETES AND MY BODY.?
?? Alcohol consumption will cause your liver to stop making glucose. As a
result, it cannot clean the alcohol out of your blood and Hypoglycemia
(Low Blood Sugar) becomes a risk, especially if you drink on an empty
stomach or shortly after taking your insulin or oral medication. Glucagon
shots do not help severe low blood sugars caused by drinking, so this type
of low will need to be treated with oral glucose tablets or gel.
?? Alcohol moves quickly into the blood without being broken down
(metabolized) in your stomach. Within 5 minutes of drinking there is
enough alcohol in your blood to measure and it won
