I have pretty bad anxiety and bad habits can anyone help? ?!

Question: I have pretty bad anxiety and bad habits can anyone help.? .?
Well, I have very bad anxiety well not really bad but I have it good enough. My habits are for when I'm nervous, chew finger nails, pull out my hair, crack my knuckles.... && I need ways to not be so nervous and find better habits. Its weird because if you knew me you couldn't even tell I have very bad anxiety, I try hiding it. && I just try not to care about what others think, what I look like, && i only try to worry about the good [: So any ideas and suggestions. I really don't wanna take pills. Health Question & Answer

I'm sorry you are feeling anxious. It's a terrible feeling, isn't it.?

I also have had problems with anxiety, and have taken medications for it. I understand that you don't want to take medications, and I don't blame you. They really only treat the symptoms, but don't get rid of the anxiety itself. They also all have side effects, which I felt were worse than the actual anxiety.
One thing I've found that helps is a recording that includes delta waves. There is a free pod cast on iTunes called "Relaxation Music for Sleep, Stress and Anxiety Relief" from Enhanced Healing. "Delta Sleep System 2.0" by Dr. Jeffery Thompson is also excellent, but it costs money.
I know you can't just walk around, living your life with headphones on all the time, so another thing I've learned to pay attention to what sets me off, and deliberately relax myself and put distance between the feeling I am having and the actual situation by having a sort of internal conversation with my anxiety and willing it to go away. It's kind of a hard thing to master, but it works. You have to practice when you aren't anxious.
At night, when I can't sleep, I sometimes take a Benedryl.
You might also want to try eliminating all caffeine, which includes chocolate, sodas, energy drinks, and the like. Alcohol is also a major anxiety producer for some people, even if it makes you feel relaxed when you are drinking it. If you are pulling out your hair, you may have a form of OCD. You might just want to check in with a Psychiatrist to make sure it's just anxiety, and not something else. Hormone imbalances and other common things which are easily cured without taking mind-altering chemicals, also cause anxiety.
I hope you feel better soon. Hope this helps a little.
