Can you get sick from shots (vaccines)?!

Question: Can you get sick from shots (vaccines).?
I know this is probably common sense and I might sound stupid but...
About 30 minutes ago I got my TDAP shot, a meningitis shot and a flu nasal spray thing (a live flu virus sprayed into my nose) I was wondering if they could get me sick, like the spray being a live virus, could I get the flu.? And can the other shots get me sick too.?
Thanks!

I got the live virus sprayed into my nose so it would take effect faster than the shot with the dead virus btw.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Depends on the vaccine. Some of the older ones used 'attenuated' viruses - basically viruses that have been weakened so severely they're not pathogenic, the same goes for bacterial vaccines. However, contracting the actual disease from a vaccine is more or less unheard of. The only time we really see it is when these vaccines are given to people with damaged immune systems - AIDS patients, transplant patients, that sort of thing. If you're not one of those, it's not something you should worry about. More people are hit by lightning each year. It's difficult to give actual odds, because it's so rare (except in aforementioned cases, where we don't usually give vaccines). But the odds are in the millions to tens of millions against, or higher.

Most modern vaccines, like Meningitis, Hep-B, HPV do not use live vaccines. Instead they just use the protein that covers the pathogen that your immune system recognizes and attacks. The proteins are grown in yeast cells usually, and highly purified. The chance of contracting a disease from one of these is actually zero.Health Question & Answer
