Mucus is brown, have a cold. Is this a sign of something more serious?!

Question: Mucus is brown, have a cold. Is this a sign of something more serious.?
Hey
So I've had a cold and/or throat infection for over a week, no biggie. What's concerning me is that when I blow my nose, the mucus that comes from my left nostril is often brown. It started out normal, and then there was some red, like blood mixed in, and now it's brownish.

Is this a sign that something more serious may be wrong.? ...I've never had anything like this before, but my fiance says its normal.

What do you say.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Your fiance is smart and right!! The brown mucus is just old blood.... and the red is fresh blood. Just means that when you are coughing or bringing up mucus, you may be breaking some blood vessels. Not a problem... very normal... your throat may be sore but you should be OK.Health Question & Answer
