That is peripheral neuropathy, and she must tell her doctor about it! There are some medicines that may help ease her symptoms, but sadly it may never completely go away. It comes from years of high blood sugar levels :-(Health Question & Answer
the burning feet is caused by damaged nerves due to uncontrolled blood sugars. it can be treated with medication, depending on severity and the patient themselves. it is usually not fully reversible, but that also depends on the patient, cause and how early its diagnosed. the medical name is peripheral neuropathy if you want to google it for further info.
the best thing your mom can do is get her sugars in better control and get to a doctor for treatment.
