Should people with cystic fibrosis have children? what are the precautions?!

Question: Should people with cystic fibrosis have children.? what are the precautions.?
Answers:
Should they have children.? If they want to - there are no "rules" about this.

First, men with cystic fibrosis are sterile and unable to have children. Women with cystic fibrosis have a harder time getting pregnant, but can and do. However, the baby may be at an increased risk of having cystic fibrosis as well since it is genetically transmitted. To prevent this from happening, the woman whould have her partner screened to find out if he carries one of the cystic fibrosis genes. If is not a carrier, the baby with not have CF. If he is, however, there is a 1/2 chance the baby will be affected. If he has CF, the baby will have CF.

During pregnancy, a woman can have fetal cells analyzed to see if the baby is affected. If it is, she may elect to terminate the pregnancy. Or she may keep the baby and just care for it like any mother of a CF baby would.Health Question & Answer

The question should be whether or not two cystic parents would want to have kids. Many people who have this condition do not live a very long live (early 20's- maybe early 30's). Do some research on the condition, its a very high maintenence condition. People who suffer with this have a constant uphill battle of clearing lots and lots of secretions out of their lungs. Its quite interesting.Health Question & Answer

A doctor needs to answer that question.
And precautions.? From having a baby.? I'm sorry I'm not understanding the second question at all. Hopefully someone knowledgeable will have some answers. But I wouldn't ask anything this seriously on YA but depend on a doctor for this kind of medical concerns.Health Question & Answer
