Generally speaking there are 2 types of skin cancer. The more worrying type is Melanoma.Normally this shows on the leg.It is not necessarilly fatal these days.
The more common facial type is Basal Cell Carcinoma. This may look like tiny pearls. The other name for this is Rodent Ulcers.
The 2nd type sounds more likely.Your Mother will get this removed,it will be examined under microscope & hopefully she just needs to heal. She will need to use sun-cream from now on.Many folks of 40plus sunbathed a lot in their youth before the problems were recognised.

Hoping all goes well! Give her some TLC & don't worry.xHugsHealth Question & Answer

One of my friend had exactly the same as our mom. Don't worry, it went all fine for my friend they removed the bit of skin which was cancerous, and she is now sound and healthy again !

Keep your mom smiling, because she might feel a bit apprehensive about the all operation thing. Health Question & Answer

first off skin is an organ...and if she just has spots to get removed it shouldn't be too bad! i'm young and i know lots of people i hang out with have had skin cancer fro, sun exposer and other stuff! good luck!Health Question & Answer

Cancer is a very complex disease, and the most drastic cases are those that have gone untreated for a long time.

You mother is probably not upset because the doctor feels they have found it in time, and that he can remove it!

This is not to say that skin cancer is not serious, or that no one ever dies from it. Ask your mom if you can go with her to see the doctor next time, so you can ask him directly. It would really give you peace of mind.

You can also easily find information on the Internet, but remember, that will be GENERAL information, and ONLY your mom's doctor can tell you about hers.

It really sounds to me like your mother needs some treatment, but that she is fine.
