Ugh! My sympathies - my daughter caught lice at school when she was second grade. I never realized before then how freakishly thick the kid's hair is. It takes forever, but be totally thorough when combing out the eggs. They are easy to miss on lighter colored hair. You miss two eggs, you get more lice and more eggs, so it's very important. I even had to vacuum out her mattress, and be sure to wash his sheets, pillows, stuffed animals - anything near his bed - in HOT wash, HOT rinse, and HOT dry cycle. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

Go to Walmart or any department store or pharmacy and pick up a RID kit. You need to treat him daily with this. also, keep a check on everyone in the family to make sure they have not contracted it. If they do, treat them the same way. Continue cleaning everything until this has resolved. Health Question & Answer

Get some lice shampoo at the drugstore. That makes the shells on the eggs hard & keeps them from hatching. Wash everything often & dry on HOT heat. That kills the eggs. Cut hair short.Health Question & Answer

Agree to the answer above. The key is getting rid of the eggs. so use the special comb provided in the RID box and section by section comb his hair twice a day while standing in place or newspaper that you can throw away. You need to go through the hair section by section and kill any lice you see and kill any eggs you see. Best way to kill squeese it btween your nails and the flat area of the comb..... I know it's not pleasant but it gets the job done.. also be kind to the other parents and let them know so they too can do the same.. if you are really squeamish about all these there are companies specializes in this that will come to your house and deal with it.. but will cost you... do a local search or ask the local school..........Health Question & Answer
