you should not try to catch the mosquito -
this would not be helpful at all to your doctors. we do not run tests on mosquitos, only on the patient.
here are the numbers:
of those infected with WNV, 80% will never have any symptoms at all.
of the 20% who develop SOME symptoms, 1/2 will never be ill enough to even see the doctor.
That gets you down to the 10% of people who are sick enough to visit the MD.
of the total infected with WNV, 0.2% will develop a syndrome of viral meningitis. This resolves on it's own without any sequelae.
0.4% will get encephalitis - this is the problem that DOES kill some people
overall, of those infected, 1 / 1350 will die. 75% of those who die are > 75 years old. Age over 50 seems to be the biggest risk factor for hospitalization. Immunosuppression such as cancer, HIV, people taking prednisone account for only 14% of cases. So this is NOT an important risk factor.
Those are pretty good odds. All data taken from the New York outbreak of 1999.Health Question & Answer

The likelihood depends on the skeeter that bit you.
I wouldn't worry too much. For most people with healthy immune systems, symptoms would be minimal to none existent.
By the way, V.C just boosts the immune system and Garlic is a natural antibiotic, not a antiviral.
