This is really embarrassing... but could it possibly be herpes?!

Question: This is really embarrassing... but could it possibly be herpes.?
I know no one can tell me for sure without an examination... but I was hoping I could rule it out before deciding to see a doctor. And please no inappropriate answers...

I've only been with two guys, plus the one that kinda proceeded without my consent, although there was no swapping of fluids there, except maybe precum...
I've been with my current boyfriend for more than a year, and neither of us have been unfaithful. He had never been with anyone before. Neither of us have even ever had a cold sore (aka oral herpes).
Well a few weeks ago, I got an itching problem. I think it was just dryness, my depression meds tend to do that, but I couldn't stop itching, and it started to hurt from me scratching so much. There was no unusual discharge or sores or bleeding... I just put on itching cream and it stopped after a few days. But now, I notice that one part does still itch. Really low on the outer labia, you know, almost in the perineum area... Well I figured it was just left over from me scratching too hard. But yesterday I was scratching at it absently, and then I noticed pink under my fingernails... I was bleeding, probably less than a nick you get while shaving, but still, there was blood. So I looked in the mirror, and all I saw was a little red dot, probably where it had been bleeding, and a bit of redness in the area, where I'd been scratching. I even asked my boyfriend to look. He said he saw something that looked a little like a bug bite, or a few of them. Today it itched again, and I looked in the mirror again, and I thought I saw a few swollen bumps, but I couldn't be sure it wasn't just... folds or something. In any case, it doesn't look like the pictures of herpes I've seen... rather hard to spot, and the bumps look more like pimples before they come to a head, rather than ones that look ready to pop, like I saw in the herpes pictures...

Now, I know they say you can spread herpes even when you don't have an outbreak, blah blah blah. But my boyfriend has NEVER seen anything that looked like an outbreak on him in his life, and neither have I on me. I'm pretty sure the other guy I was with didn't have it either. As for the rapist... I really can't be sure. But the thing is... if either of these guys gave it to me, wouldn't I have had symptoms a long time ago.? Why now.?

So does this even sound like herpes...? Or could it be something else, something (dare I hope it) *curable*.?Health Question & Answer

I hate to say this, but it may be herpes.
When this person raped you, did he use a condom.?

Worse thing you can do is ignore it, as it will only get worse and progress into the awful boils you saw when you researched it.

My ex and I, seldom used condoms as I was on the injection - I trusted him in knowing if he had any STI's.. I don't KNOW if he knows, as the carrier can lie dormant for months, even years. I suspect my boyfriend to be dormant, and has been for over 2 years.

Now I have to tell him he may be a carrier.

Now, i hate to say it, if you do have herpes - you WILL have it for the rest of your life, you will only have to take medication when it flares up.. Somewhat like dealing with tonsilitus; when you see the signs you take action.

If you have NOT used condoms with your boyf, he may have it too.

So go to the clinic today, get checked out, lets hope i'm wrong but what your describing is an exact description of my vagina. :(

I'm sorry if you do. I feel like the world is crashing around me right now.

also, you ask why has it taken this long to rear its ugly head.? It can lie dormant in you for as long as it wants too, then pop up when your run down, stressed, unhealthy been drinking, smoking excessively etc.

Health Question & Answer

I read on the CDC's website that many many people live with herpes and NEVER ever have an outbreak. It's quite possible that your bf has it, but he has just never had an outbreak before. Everyones bodys are different and everyones bodys wil react differently to different things. If I were you, I would goto the doctor. If you cannot afford a doctor try the health clinic in your area. Good luck.Health Question & Answer
