a strep infection is different from tonsillitis. the tonsils actually keep the strep from getting into the body. if the strep infection gets into the body, it can go into the heart and cause rheumatic fever- this can be quite dangerous. so, keep the tonsils, and take antibiotics for the strep.Health Question & Answer
