Pain when breathing and coughing?!
Question: Pain when breathing and coughing.?
A week ago, I had body aches and fever and was coughing. The doctor said I had some gray mucus but not enough fever to consider it being pneumonia or anything. He just gave me couge syrup and said to call if it got worse. This morning, I kept waking up with pain in my left rib. I've been coughing dry coughs since I got up and my pain is worse when I take deep breaths. I've called but am waiting on a call back. Any ideas on what this could be.?Health Question & Answer

I had the same thing happen to me.
I went to the doctor and explained that I couldn't stop coughing and I was in so much pain. Couldn't cough anything up or anything. He told me I was fine. I wanted to kill him.
Went back after I couldn't take it anymore, and he was like, oh it is bronchitis.
He prescribed some sort of inhaler and a cough syrup.
The best thing to do is to drink tea and rest it off.

Definitely sounds like Bronchitis. I got it three weeks ago and I'm still trying to get rid of it! With Bronchitis, you get fevers, pain in your chest when trying to breathe in deep, sore chest/ribs from coughing, fatigue, a bad cough(dry or wet) and shortness of breath. I would go back to the doctor, have him check you for Bronchitis. My doctor prescribed Augmentin 500mg and Zyrtec D. I would also recommend drinking warm tea and taking Mucinex will help break the phlegm up in your chest. I also took Vicks 44 for the fevers and cough. Keep us updated, and get well soon! Pain is not a good sign, especially if u went from a productive cough to a non productive cough. Basically coughing up mucus to not coughing up mucus. Could be bronchitis or pneumonia, sounds like u need antibiotics, plenty of clear fluids, and rest. Throw away your toothbrush, spray lysol on inantimate objects and wash sheets towels, etc that you've come in contact with. PS.
