Question about HIDA scans?!

Question: Question about HIDA scans.?
What happens during these.? Is the dye like a CT scans dye.? (I'm allergic to that)Health Question & Answer

Answers:
HIDA scans involve the injection of a radio-isotope tracer which is subsequently taken up by the liver and (normally) excreted through the biliary system... the test examines the patency of this system. The tracer is not related to the iodine based contrasts used in CT scans, and cross-reactivity is not a known problem.

However, there is a chance that you're allergic to both CT contrast and the HIDA tracer... but there's no way to predict that.Health Question & Answer
