Burning sensation in throat/chest while eating?!

Question: Burning sensation in throat/chest while eating.?
For the past few weeks, I have gotten a burning sensation in my throat and chest while eating. I notice a few weeks ago when I got busy at work and hardly ate all day. When I got home, my husband I went out to eat, and everytime I would put food in my mouth (even before I swallowed) it felt like acid was rising in throat. I immediatly lost my appetite, even though I was SO hungry! Now, when I eat, it feels like I have food stuck right in the middle of my chest, and I know its not from not chewing properly, because it even feels that way when I eat soup, and sometimes even when I drink water.

Since it feels like heartburn, I've tried taking antacids to help, but they don't really work. Sometimes, when I anticipate eating, like right before putting food in my mouth, I begin to feel nauseated and the acid (I guess that's what it is...) starts to rise and I can feel it in my esophagus from my mid-chest area up to my throat.

[I am not only worried because it hurts, but because my husband thinks his cooking is bad because it is hard for me to eat!] This happens a lot, and it doesn't matter what type of food I am eating, but it just started in the past few weeks.

Can it be acid reflux if antacids won't help, and if it does it when I drink water, or just anticipate eating food, without actually eating anything.?Health Question & Answer

I would advise getting help soon. Antacids like Pepcid AC should help if the problem really is acid reflux. But you may have something else. I would advise you to see a doctor and have an endoscopy done so they can look down in your throat, and esophagus to see just what is going there. But try Pepcid AC, or Prevacid first.Health Question & Answer

If it feels like heart burn you could have a condition called "acid reflux." Go and see a doctor and he can prescribe you some ZERTEK. also, if you are allergic to certain types of foods, that can cause some of them symptoms you were mentioning. Good luck and Get well.Health Question & Answer
