Venlafaxine is a antidepressent, what does it do and how does it work?!

Question: Venlafaxine is a antidepressent, what does it do and how does it work.?
Answers:
Antidepressants mainly work one of two ways: they can either make more hormone which makes us happy, or they can allow the hormones we already have to work for a longer time. Effexor (venlafaxine) is the second type.

Normally, our bodies create serotonin and norepineprine, these hormones attach to neurons, and give us the happy feeling. However, they soon detach from the neurons, and we lose the happy feeling. This is called "re-uptake" because the hormones are being taken from the neuron.

Effexor is a serotonin-norepinephrine re-uptake inhibitor, which means that it prevents these two "happy" hormones from unbinding from the neuron for a while. This prolongs the happy feeling.
