Doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals ONLY please!?!

Question: Doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals ONLY please!.?
I am 19, almost 20. I have PCOS and hypothyroidism, I do not get regular periods. About 2 months ago I found a 3 inch long lump in my right breast and waited a month to see my doctor. When I went in they did a mammogram and an ultrasound both of which were clear. He said it was most likely due to hormonal changes and to come back in a month if it hadn't gone away. When I went back he said it felt larger and more distinct and sent me to the surgeon to get a biopsy. I had my appointment with the surgeon today and he said that it was nothing to worry about because I just had lumpy breast, even though it is just the one lump in the one breast, and that if it got any bigger to come back in after 6 months. When I told him that was the reason for my refferal to him he made me feel stupid for being there and that it was so unlikely that I would have anything serious and he is not doing a biopsy. Isn't this a little contradictory.? Aren't they suppose to do a biopsy even if it may just be fibroadenomas.? Anyways, I just need some advice from someone who knows what they are talking about, until I can get back into my doctor and hopefully get another surgeon.
also if anyone knows of any good general surgeons in the BC Canada area...around Prince George or Quesnel that would be great.
Any helpful advice or reassurance, or even suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to be one of those people who waits 6 months and then finds out they have an advanced stage of breast cancer. Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I'm not a doctor, but I work for two of them. If I were you, I'd ask for a breast MRI to ease your mind about the lumps in your breast.
