Canker Sores = herpes?!

Question: Canker Sores = herpes.?
just a simple question, are canker sores related to herpes at all.?.?.?.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
No, canker sores and herpes are not related. Herpes is a virus that is contracted from skin on skin contact and is with you for life. It isn't known what causes canker sores-only some trends such as genetics (families tend to have them), they get worse with stress and certain things trigger them. Look it up on medical website to get some info. They are not the same thing but they do look a bit similar-oh, and canker sores are not contagious!Health Question & Answer

No, canker sores are not related to herpes, but they are often mistaken for each other because of the similarities.

Herpes (ie: cold sores/oral herpes/fever blisters/genital herpes) are NOT the same or even related to CANKER SORES.

Canker sores are not contagious, no one is really certain of what causes them, but they are not caused by herpes. Anyone can get a canker sore, but it is thought to 'run in the family', so if your parents get them, you will more than likely to get them too.

Oral and genital herpes are contagious and they are caused by HSV (herpes simplex virus). Usually it is HSV type 1 that causes so called "cold sores", but you can also spread HSV type 2 to your mouth and it would be the same as a "cold sore".

Herpes = cold sores, fever blisters, oral herpes, genital herpes, shingles, chicken pox, etc

Canker sores = Canker sores

Hope that helps,
Vicki
