Health Question & Answer

Answers:
it is NORMAL for your blood sugar level to "spike" immediately after a meal.

You should NOT be taking blood sugar readings ANY SOONER than TWO HOURS after you eat. This gives time for your body's natural insulin to work.

Your readings appear to be normal.

BTW: Why are you eating snakes.? Do they bite.?
OOOhhh --- I'll bet you mean SNACKS!Health Question & Answer

You didn't have enough insulin to cover the carbs you ate.Health Question & Answer

okay i'm going to assume youre type 1 because i'm not really sure what the protocol for type 2 would be...but i'm sure this information would still be useful!
every 10g or carb can raise your sugar 35-60mg/dl. when reading carbs you have to take the full value, not the sugar content only. usually it is safe to eat 10g with no real effect on your sugars as the basal insulin will usually keep it from spiking, however just that extra 10g is probably what put you up. (theres 19g in what you ate)
i've learnt this through carb counting courses and learning to adjust my insulin accordingly. as everyone needs different amounts i wont try and guess how much you could've taken.
you should talk to your doc or diabetic nurse if this happens quite often, or else try and restrict your snacks to 10-15g carbs.

hope this helps!Health Question & Answer
