Can potassium lactate trigger a milk allergy?!
Question: Can potassium lactate trigger a milk allergy.?
Theres this good salmon jerky that I get from Washington whenever im in the state and I was recently diagnosed with a milk allergy. I was reading the ingredients to the jerky and saw that it had potassium lactate. Google searches indicate that it may or may not be able to trigger a milk allergy. Can someone elaborate if im able to eat this anymore or not.? Thanks.Health Question & Answer
Answers:
Hi Sam. Lactate is Lactic Acid. This chemical is NOT the same as Lactose (milk sugar). Lactic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body (e.g. lactic acid build-up after heavy exercise is the cause of muscle soreness).
So, I do not see any relationship between potassium lactate and milk allergies.Health Question & Answer
