Question: Why are my eyes constantly drying up.?
When I woke up this morning, my eyes were so dry, every time i would blink my contact would move in my eye & it would get so irritating. I put some Optive eye drops in my eyes and it seemed to have helped for alittle while, but it would just make it worse after it dried up again. So i kept re-applying it, and it just seemed to have gotten worse. Is it the contacts Im wearing thats making my eyes so dry or is it something in the eye drops.? I'm currently wearing Accuvue Oasys, but I used to wear Precision UV and I believe those were alot better but also did the same thing to my eyes. I dont know what it is! Can someone please tell me what I need to do to fix this! Im at the point where im dying to be 25 so I can get Lasik Surgery! LOLHealth Question & Answer

I hate that. I still have that problem when I wake up. My eye doc said some people just don't create the amount of tears contacts require. If you're using old contact solution or eyedrops close to expiration, they usually create a film on your contacts which might dry them out. The same thing happens if you've cried recently (but because of the salt in your tears, usually your contacts become brittle so this is easier to pinpoint as the cause of your contacts' dryness).
To correct dryness, in the mornings I place my pointer finger under cold running water and dab it at the corners of my eyes. If there are a lot of minerals in your tap water, it might dry your eyes out more and you'd need to try bottled water.
I'd give it a try and see. If that doesn't help, you might have to ask your eye doc about a different pair of contacts or a new type of eyedrop or saline solution. I use Acuvue XC lenses and they don't dry out as badly as the others I've tried.Health Question & Answer
