Question: My friend slept with a girl with herpes.?
My buddy came to me the other day because he has been seeing this girl. After they slept together a couple times she started crying and said there is something she needs to tell him. her ex boyfriend cheated on her and caught the std. she went and got checked out and the herpes test was inclusive. he said that it could be dormant and not sure at this time. If she was not having any signs of an out break at the time they had sex then there would be a very low chance of him getting herpes, even lower if she was on suppresive therapy (ie Valtrex).
There would be more of a possibility if she had an out break or if it was in the healing stages.
He should look up the symptoms for herpes and keep track of any that he has. If he has any symptoms that match symptoms of herpes, then he should get tested specifically for herpes. This is not done in a routine check up, urine test or std test it's some thing that has to be asked for.

Unless she had active herpes at time of contact, the virus would not spread. Still though, always a good idea to always use a condom and avoid doing oral to subject in event of herpes lesions (and just for good sexual health because there's more STD's and infections one can catch than herpes, not to mention risk of unwanted pregnancy.)Health Question & Answer

It's possible your friend can get herpes. The girl may have a dormant variation, but could still pass it on. This is a great example of why you should always use a condom! Health Question & Answer
