How Long before Vomiting and Diareaha Get Serious?!

Question: How Long before Vomiting and Diareaha Get Serious.?
So, 2 nights ago, I began vomiting and diareahha at 1am, i couldnt sleep the whole night because of it, now 1 day later, i have slept almost 24 hours in the past 2 days. how long before I should see a doctor.? i haven't vomited since about 11pm last night after i took advil, but then later my dad said he shouldnt have given me that. anyways, now its 11pm almost 2 days after this started. my stomach still feels weezy , i have sort of a headache, havent vomited in a while, but still have some diareahha. i havent really eaten anything in the past 24 hours, other than a few crackers, some jello, cool pops, ginger ale, and coca cola. is this all because of the stomach flu.? is this normal to get this time of year. when can i expect to be fully healed.? should i eat more.? ps, my pee kind of burns when i pee, but not as much as before anymore. thanksHealth Question & Answer

Answers:
There is no stomach flu but there is gastroenteritis both viral and bacterial. Gastroenteritis can strike at any time of year. There's no real season but the viral form is more common during colder weather when people spend more time indoors and in closer contact. The bacterial form is nearly always due to food contamination or undercooked food.

You're sleeping a lot because you need to. Go with it. It sounds like your symptoms are beginning to taper off and that's the usual course. It's often the first 3 days that are the worst. For diarrhea, you can use the BRAT diet -- Bananas, steamed Rice, Applesauce and dry Toast. The other things you're eating/drinking are fine and be sure to include plain water. If the diarrhea continues beyond 3 or 4 days, start taking Imodium. Take the Advil for headache and take it with food. The burning should resolve as you increase your fluid intake. I suspect I know why that's happened.

Keep your meals small and you can eat more frequently, perhaps 4-6 times a day. And take it easy until you feel more like yourself. When the diarrhea has stopped for 24 hours, you can introduce your usual foods back into your diet. Keep your meals small and frequent until your stomach has adjusted.Health Question & Answer
