Chances of mass being benign or cancerous based on preliminary blood test.?!

Question: Chances of mass being benign or cancerous based on preliminary blood test..?
My brother went to the doctor last Monday and was admitted for a 'mass' located around his aorta expanding up to his lower neck. They found that it is inoperable and he needs radiation and chemo therapy. He hasn't gotten the biopsy's diagnosis back yet - that'll be Monday.

Based on his preliminary blood tests showing no sign of cancer, what are the chances now of it actually being cancer.? I'm just nervous about the diagnosis on Monday...Thank you.Health Question & Answer

You'll have to wait until Monday to be sure. Cancer sometimes puts detectable components in the blood. The preliminary test, as you say, didn't show these components. It's more likely now it's a benign growth, but not 100% until Monday. Pray hard.

I've only heard of chemo and radiation associated with cancers, but I'm not a doctor either. Maybe benign growth respond to those treatments also.Health Question & Answer
