Have a bad cold and need help..?!

Question: Have a bad cold and need help...?
I have had this cold for a few days now. But last night, it got so much worse.
I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't breathe through my nose at all. I coughed and my chest felt tight and burning like it was on fire. I took some Nyquil, am running a humidifier, took a hot shower, and I'm drinking hot green tea with honey. I still can't breathe, I tried nasal spray but I don't think it's going to work. Is there any other way to find relief.? I'm not going to the doctor's for a cold. Thanks!Health Question & Answer

You don't need to go to a doctor for a cold - you can treat this yourself. You need to be taking some sort of over the counter cough medication and/or decongestant on a regular basis. You can use the saline nose irrigation as often as you need and you need to be taking some tylenol or ibuprofen on a regular basis which will help with your chest discomfort. Continue doing the rest of the things you are doing. also, increase your daily water intake - it will help thin the secretions. Expect this to take about 10 days to go away, sometimes more.Health Question & Answer

I have to tell you to try what I told the guy with the annoying cough. Rub Vick's salve on the bottom of your feet and then put socks on. You absorb faster through your feet than anywhere else on your body. This is true. (Check out natural sites.) Once you have taken your shower, rub the salve on your feet, then put your socks on. You don't need a lot just a little and then rub it in. Pretty soon you will be able to breathe out of your nose. Keep up with everything else, you are doing the right thing. Good luck. I hope you feel better real soon.Health Question & Answer
