Tuberculosis! pls help asap?!

Question: Tuberculosis! pls help asap.?
Hi one of my very close friend was diagnosed with tuberculosis 12yrs back. She did Montoux test then. She was also cured from it completely. Recently Dr told her that whenever she does a test for tuberculosis it will always show positive due to Montoux test done in the past. Now she is planning to get married and would settle abroad. She will have to go through the medical check up. She is really scared that will the test come positive for tuberculosis even if she does not have it now. Should she tell her partner about the same.. She doesnt know how to put it to him.Health Question & Answer

Once you have had TB or any type of positive reaction you will always test positive because your body had the antibodies against it. What happens when someone has a positive reaction we ask them a series of questions to find out if they are active or not, and then send them to get a chest x-ray. So as long as your friend has a recent copy of a chest x-ray there should be no problem.
a positive reactions isn't all that uncommon either as many people have egg allergies, and many people in foreign countries get a vaccine for TB (BCG) which will almost always give them a positive reaction in the future.Health Question & Answer

Lol, not to make light of this situation, but its tuberculosis that is cured, not aids.

Of course she shud tell him, so he wont be lost and confused if some misunderstand was to arise or any confusion due to her positive test, but she is testing positive for antibodies, NOT tuberculosis, that is the most important thing 2 remember.

Besides, honesty is always the best policy (^_^)Health Question & Answer

I never had TB but my mantouxs always been positive(I work in a hospital, its mandatory) I found out im allergic to the serum so I have to have a chest xray. When they want her to have a mantoux, she should tell them she needs a chest xray due to previous positive mantoux. If she keeps getting mantouxs knowing they will be positive it will keep getting worse. My last one I got before I found out I was allergic didnt heal for weeks!Health Question & Answer

TB is curable that's for sure and it is mantoux test not montoux test :)
It is also correct that mantoux will always become positive because it is just a test for TB exposure not for having TB itself.

its not a big deal.........she should get medical records which state that she will always test positive..........its not a test saying that she has tb, but saying that she has tb antibody...........Health Question & Answer
