What steps have I taken.? My steps are mandated by the health department and by hospital policy. They are too numerous to list.

Anything that boosts and supports the immune system along with general health will prevent or reduce colds. Exercise, a well balanced diet, plenty of sleep, good oral care, avoiding close contact with those who are obviously ill, frequent and correcty done hand washing. These are practices you didn't mention and are more effective than vitamins and water together.
