Does planned parenthood do testing for genital herpes? If so, can I also get the medication from them?!

Question: Does planned parenthood do testing for genital herpes.? If so, can I also get the medication from them.?
Answers:
yes, and so does your local department of health. the thing is with herpes is, you have to have an outbreak for them to diagnose it. so if you have ulcer like sores on your pubes go to the doc and they might be herpes.Health Question & Answer

Yes, they do HSV testing. However, you specifically have to request it. It generally isn't included in a "complete" STD test. The doctor can write you a prescription, but I don't think they have a pharmacy where you can fill your prescription. If you have health insurance, getting Valtrex should be fine. However, without insurance, it can be pretty expensive. Instead, you may want to have the doctor write a prescription for Acyclovir because Wal-Mart and maybe the Target pharmacies have $4 prescriptions available. Just remember that the medication can supress future outbreaks and help current ones heal faster, but it is not a cure for genital Herpes. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

yes -often genital herpes can be clinically diagnosed-by looking at you and talking to you...they can do it and write a script for meds -herpes untreated can lead to lasting problems... make sure you take care of thisHealth Question & Answer
