Does wheezing mean its asthma?!

Question: Does wheezing mean its asthma.?
I'm not sure if my child has a cold or if he has asthma. He is 7 months old and at all of his past check-ups he has been completely healthy and there has been no signs of breathing problems, but recently he's been coughing off and on for the past week or so. His cough is a little phlegmy. Now I'm noticing that he's breathing in deeply kind of like wheezing, but not very whistley, when he's excited. He seems to be laughing at the same time in most cases too. He doesn't have a fever or an overly runny nose so I'm not sure if he is sick or not. I don't think he's having problems breathing either, but when he makes those sounds along with the cough I get worried. Maybe he is just experimenting with new sounds and this is something he discovered.? Anyway, I'm planning on calling his pediatrician tomorrow, but was wondering if this sounds like asthma. To my knowledge no one in my family or his father's suffers from it.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Asthmatics wheeze. Not all wheezing is asthma. Wheezing is caused in constricted small airways. The link can answer it better than I can.
