Do finger & toenails completely burn up when someone's remains are cremated?!
Question: Do finger & toenails completely burn up when someone's remains are cremated.?
A documentary on television discussed cremation in one part of its program; stating that once the cremation-process is completed, the bones still have to be crushed or ground to ashes because human-bone will not completely burn if at all. Is this also true for the finger & toenails.? No- I'm not trying to be morbid over "The Holidays". I have just been curious about this for a while now. Thank you to all who answer.Health Question & Answer
Answers:
Yes, they are completely burned up. Nails are made of proteins, which burn easily, especially at the high temperature that cremation involves.Health Question & Answer
Can't answer about nails, but replacement body parts, stainless steel knee replacements, for example, will not burn, and will be put in the containers along with the ashes.Health Question & Answer
