Has anyone else had "classic" gallbladder problem symptoms but all tests came back normal?!

Question: Has anyone else had "classic" gallbladder problem symptoms but all tests came back normal.?
i started getting pain about 7 weeks ago. and went to the DR and she said it sounded like gallstones but i had an ultrasound and blood work and all came back fine. the ultrasound showed NO stones and the blood tests said all was good.
but i still have pain in right side under ribs (comes and goes), pain in upper back (comes and goes), nauseua when i get the pain, excess gas.
so my DR sent me for a HIDA scan and it came back normal. (even though while doing the test they told me my gallbladder wasn't contracting and i had to go eat something fatty and when i came back my gallbladder hurt and they said it was contracting then and i told my DR this and she said that isn't normal procedure so neither of us know why they would say the scan was normal)
she is now sending me to a GI doctor to see if he can shed any light as to what this is.

so i'm just curious if anyone else had a similar situation.?
and if you did what did the problem end up being.?

THANKS!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I started having problems with my gallbladder when I was 16, and it took them two years to figure out that it wasn't acid reflux or gastritis. I had multiple ultrasounds of my abdomen and underwent 3 HIDAscans over the course of a year. All my ultrasounds came back normal, and the first two HIDAscans came back as 65% and 40%, but I told my doctor that in each instance, I was in pain while they were administering the CCK (the hormone that forces the gallbladder to contract), and I felt nauseated for days afterwards. The GI specialist said that the fact that I was experiencing symptoms during the testing meant one of two things:
1) The results were wrong and someone screwed up.
2) My gallbladder was in the process of failing, but hadn't failed quite yet.
She sent me to a different hospital to have the test done a few weeks later and sure enough the ejection fraction came back as 0%. We still don't know if it was the radiology lab that messed up, or if my gallbladder just hadn't failed yet, but when they took it out they said that it was covered with scar tissue and would have started producing gallstones within a few months.

When you go to see the GI specialist, make sure they know that you were experiencing pain/discomfort during the test. And make sure they know that the radiology techs instructed you to eat for it. My guess is the radiology department you went to for the test was...well to put it nicely...in error. The doctor will probably send you in for another HIDAscan at a different radiology center.

Gallbladder attacks are the worst sort of pain, and in my opinion, worse than kidney stones. Good luck and I hope you get this resolved soon and get feeling better.Health Question & Answer

OH my how I feel your pain. All my tests came back normal for three months. I lost 30# in a month and still, they said I was fine. Finally was sent to a surgeon and had it removed and when the pathology came back it showed chronic infection and inflammation. I hope someone helps you soon.Health Question & Answer

ive actually had to have my gallblader removed cuz i had 36 galstones...but in my situation, we tought it was a stomach thing cuz i had pain in my stomach not wehre my gallbladder is, but when i eat greasy or fatty food i was in a lot of pain or even spicy food i would be pukeing blood up from it, but after i got that fixed i actually just had surgery on my stomach where they found i have gastrits also

but it does sound like its your gallbladder, you may have really small stones, or they could have gone through the tube from your galbladder to your stomach causing you pain alos, but if your doctor is sending you to a GI doctor they should find it, or maybe its something with your stomach and the pain just hasnt localized yet.

i know the pain hurts bad, really bad, but once the doctors figure it out you will be alright, i promise..if you do have to have ur galbladder taken out, be very careful when your recovering, cuz i riped 2 of my insicions back open know i have a huge scar becasue of it..so just take it easy and you will be fineHealth Question & Answer
