Question: 1. Do I Have OCD.? 2. Do You have to be born with OCD.? 3. Can you Get OCD during your life.? 4. Can you get rid.?
...Of OCD.? 5. If so, Can it come back.?
Ok so on Friday My Niece Was Born... Ever since she was born I've HAD to wash my hands before and after i hold her. Nobody told me to wash my hands I just had to and couldn't stop myself. After I wash my hands people usually hand her right to me. If she doesn't get handed right to me i just sit there and don't touch anything. Then when she gets handed to me.. for some reason i have to wash them again.
And when i wash my hands for some reason now i have to wash the inside for a certain amount of seconds, the outsides seperately with the same amount of seconds as the inside. Each time i wash my hand there are different amount of seconds though.
also in March I had a hamster die. :( But before she died she got out of her cage once from me not closing the door. I kept worrying that she was gonna get out so i would have to check her cage door continuously. I also did the hand washing thing with her.

I have OCD to some extent. So does my dad, I think I got it from him. (it can be genetic, but not always.) Sometimes it can just develop out of nowhere. It's an anxiety disorder. But the thing is, you have to remember that YOU are in control of your OCD. It'll just get worse if you "obsess" over it, so don't think of it as a disease (unless of course it gets really bad. You CAN take anti-anxiety meds, but its not necessary. You could also go to therapy if you wanted, and they could find out why you are obsessive compulsive. Handwashing isn't always a bad thing. Having OCD myself, I never get sick! I consider that a good thing. :)Health Question & Answer

I dont think you have OCD ... I have been the same with my son since his birth (3 months ago) ... I wash my hands so much they have turned bright red and dry and even crack and bleed ... its very bad!!

also when people want to touch or hold him I ask them to wash their hands ... if i go out with him and random [people touch him I bath him as soon as we get home!!

try not to think about it ~ continue to wash your hands though because at least its a GOOD habit :) good luck~Health Question & Answer
