Fiance's daughter has the stomach virus...I'm freakin out!!!?!

Question: Fiance's daughter has the stomach virus...I'm freakin out!!!.?
Ok, I have a serious serious fear, actually phobia, or vomiting and will do anything within reasonable limits to aviod it. I have panic attacks just thinking about puking, and now my fiance's daughter puked in her room about an hour ago and yesterday she had a fever...help!!

The worse thing about it is that even though i agree that you need to take care of your kids when they are sick, i don't think you should be coming in such close contact with them, especially when they have such a violent virus. He says that he wouldn't care about cuddling with her and not really taking any caution. I say that you can still be supportive without having to subject yourself to it...you can tell the child to relax in bed and get some rest and that everything will be okay.....

I don't know...I just could never allow myself to be that close to somebody who has the stomach flu, or even just a cold. I have a daughter as well and i am DEATHLY afraid that she will get it, and she wants her mommy when she is sick.

Help me!
ANY advice would be awesome!!Health Question & Answer

If you are living in the same house with someone that is sick you will most likely get sick too, weather or not you are near them or touch them. The poor kid is probably scared and in pain. She needs someone to comfort her. Make sure she is drinking plenty of fluids and something with electrolytes like Gatorade. Give her small sips.

If her fever is very high you may want to take her to the hospital.Health Question & Answer

If she was only sick once and has had no Diarreah it doesnt sound like the stomach flu. it could be a small bug she picked up from school or something or she could have eaten something that disagreed with her.

With the stomach flu i think people are usually vomiting quite alot with diarreahHealth Question & Answer

She needs someone. Is she old enough to know try to get to the bathroom or trashcan.? Put a show on for her and every hour come in and check on her. Bring her propel and gatorade and after a bit of this she's gonna be starving maybe some saltine crackers.

*Edit* Take airborne it may help your body avoid it.Health Question & Answer

Because you have panic attacks, I won't be as stern as I would prefer.

Haven't you heard of Mother's Protection.? Most mothers mother their loving sick children. To want to isolate the child because you don't want to get what they have, is almost similar to how society treated children with AIDs. Thank God that Princess Diana had the grace to hold children inflicted with AIDs. I think she helped to dispel the notion of catching something the children have.

My daughter loved her sick days, because of my extra loving. I would let her get comfortable on the couch so she could watch tv. I did not allow televisions in our bedrooms. I would cover her with a special comforter, and about 2 or 3 pillows. The menu was chicken soup, crackers, or the BRAT diet.(Banana, rice, applesauce, toast). If necessary, I had a thermometer nearby. If she was nauseous I left a bucket or large cool whip container for her. (I make sure I have a container nearby when I get nauseous.)

If your child is old enough to watch herself while you are at work, be sure that a telephone and the remote control are nearby.

If this is freaking you out, I pray that your girls don't get head lice! My husband treated my daughter like she was so communicable, which she was, but with the first shampoo with lice-shampoo, the child is safe for cuddling.

Try not to let your girls feel like they have the plague. Give them love, hugs, and warm cider to drink. You can also put a cinnamon or peppermint candy cane in the apple cider.

Try to read the Sweet Pickles book, "Worry Walrus." You will be fine. And if you aren't, sorry.....

PS, I have a friend, who loses bladder control while vomiting! Maybe you need to be on Zoloft or Prozac. It helps to take the edge off of OCD triggers. Good luck.Health Question & Answer
