Dental bone grafting?!
Question: Dental bone grafting.?
after having dental bone grafting surgery is it possible to put in a denture until the day for an implant or do you have to wait until the area heals.?Health Question & Answer
Answers:
yes but you'll need to wait a week or two to let the area heal a little-then try not to wear the denture all the time.. You will need to let your gums "breathe" as much as possible..........wash mouth out with salt water often............& Take a calcium supplement that promotes bone growth........Health Question & Answer
The area needs plenty of time for healing.. If you had an autologous bone graft from donor bone, it came in a "powder" form........it needs to harden and graft in with your own bone.. This takes a while.. Especially for an implant.. An implant will be a permanent fixture into that bone area......you want to make certain it has "taken" and healed before you begin putting in the post that will hold your tooth..
For a denture, it won't take as long.. The reason for that is because as the shape of the bony area changes, the denture itself can be taken out and re-lined with a soft material so you'll have a better fit..
Best of luck to you!!Health Question & Answer
