Question: Had bulimia worried about my teeth.?
im only 17 and my dentist wants to take an xray of my teeth because they are discoloured but she doesnt know about the bulimia.. I dont want anyone to find out because im over it now.. My question is really will the xray show up that i had bulimia ..Health Question & Answer

it is the acid from your stomach that causes your teeth to break down when you are bulimic..

Discoloration is common on teeth, but xray i guess can show up erosion on your teeth, not bulimia itself but your dentist might suspect a connection if the erosion is quite bad.. also, xrays are taken just to see if there are any cavities which will help the dentist to decide on treatment.. You dont have to disclose any information about yourself if you dont feel like.. Again, another thing, soda's/fruit etc can also erode your teeth.. if you smoke, this might just add to the discolouration.. i wish you well..Health Question & Answer
honestly an experienced dentist is going to know that something isn't right when she sees how worn down the enamel is.. If they are discolored and severely corroded I would recommend veneers.. they are porcelain coverings made specially to fit and look like your real teeth, however if you are not serious about beating your battle with bullemia I would hold off because depending on your insurance provider they are usually pretty spendyHealth Question & Answer
