the pain medicine they give me there makes me woozy.. Any opinions.? I don't have an infection or anything......just need a root canal so hopefully they will be able to numb it and everything won't hurt too bad.. :(Health Question & Answer

You really shouldn't need more than novacain for the root canal, but if they give you some other type of anesthesia as well, you may need a driver.. You shouldn't be taking any pain medicine until you get home, so that shouldn't be a problem.. I suggest you take Ibuprophen, that was all I needed after my root canals.. If you still have pain after taking the Ibuphrophen (and giving it time to work), then you might consider taking a narcotic, but personally, I try to stay as far away from narcotics as I can..Health Question & Answer
Why would you be getting pain meds at the dentist.? If you are in a lot of pain, you may get a presecription for some meds, but they don't dispense them there at the office..
Actually, root canals have a far worse reputation than they really merit.. You'll feel SO much better after it because your tooth won't be infected or painful anymore.. There may be some soreness afterwards, but it will be nothing like the discomfort you've probably already been feeling in that area..
Unless you mean that you will be put under sedation or general anesthesia for it.. In that case, definitely get someone to drive you.. If they're just using local (novacaine), you'll be fine..Health Question & Answer

you only need someone to drive you if you are being sedated in the office.. You would know if you were having this so you will not need anyone to drive you to the appointment.. Dentists do not just whip out sedation, it is planned ahead with consents, etc......Health Question & Answer
It won't be a bad thing to have someone drive you but it may not be necessary.. I just had a root canal done in two teeth and I was able to drive myself home (30 minutes away).. I was just very numb but not drowsy..Health Question & Answer
