Brushing properly helps the gums.. They should be coral pink.. But bad breath is caused primarily by bacteria on the top and back of your tongue.. Top of one's tongue should look pink as well.. Not discolored, white or brown.. Next time, check the isle where they sell toothbrushes.. You should also find brushes there designed just to brush the tongue and scrape of the bacteria.. Yes, my dentist showed me how to properly brush my teeth and he said to brush the gum in a circular motion to stimulate the gums and to get under the gum slightly to avoid gingivitis.. Then bring the brush straight down over the teeth.. And keep doing that all over..
