Detecting fractured root?!

Question: Detecting fractured root.?
If I go to an endodontist, can they find out whether I have a fractured root before undergoing an apicoectomy.? My main concern is money.. I don't want to have to pay for apicoectomy only to find out that I have a fractured root and and need extraction..Health Question & Answer

Answers:
If a root fracture is large enough AND in the buccal [cheek side] or lingual [roof or tongue side] of the root, it will show up on the x-ray.. If it's on one of the other two sides of the root [mesial or distal] then no.. It can usually be determined by where the lesion is, where the problem is occurring.. That is, if the lesion is at the root end then it's coming from there and an apico will be successful.. If the lesion is on the side of the tooth then it's coming from a fracture.. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

Oh, yes, X-ray reveals all the details( including fractured roots) before any decision for apicoectormy is taken..
