Since you have braces, flossing is obviously a problem and you might have developed gingivitis, as they mentioned above.. It's basically a bacterial infection in your gums because there's nothing (like floss) to physically remove it..
Instead, you should get a WaterPik (or another dental irrigator) to take the place of dental floss.. It's a small jet of water like a tiny garden hose that will rinse the spaces at the base of your teeth and between them, and the WaterPik comes with a brush attachment specifically for use with braces..

its because your gums are irritated from the gunk and germs inbetween your teeth when you dont floss
Try flossing daily, and rinsing with a mouthwash, preferilby one without alcohol..
