I am not a dental professional but I know what you mean.. Your teeth were bridged by plaque and held firm together, leaning on eachother.. The dentist scraped and polished, and now you have normal spaces, not abnormal gaps, and absolutely not holes.. This is good for keeping them clean, and avoiding tartar buildup, if you brush and floss.. They will become stronger, and firmer where they are rooted - give them time to adjust..Health Question & Answer

i suppose that you are at around your thirties or fourties.? this is most probably due to gum disease where the bone is gum tissues has been lost due to Bactrial infection and eventually leading to loss of teeth.. bleeding and receding gums are a sign of periodontitis.. previously the teeth were firm and had no spacing is because of the tartar accumulation around the lower front teeth that covered up the spacings and held the teeth firmly together.. the most common place tartar accumulation is seen is usually the lower front teeth.. the blood is most likely due to the gum inflammation and the tartar build up.. the dentisit said that your teeth are fine = there were no decay on your teeth.? but your gums are definitely not fine.. gum diseases are very common.. they can be prevented by properbrushing and flossing techniques.. another possibility would be that you have been brushing too hard or have been using a hard/medium brush and caused the receeded gums.. bone and gum tissue that has been lost cannot be grown back, the only way is to just stop the gum disease from progressing and to maintain your condition..Health Question & Answer

The dentist didn't drill into any tooth structure.. He was removing the tartar that had settled in between your teeth and under the gumline.. This is why it is important to floss every day.. This will remove the plaque as it forms so that there is less of it to calcify and eat away at the bone surrounding the teeth.. It's a good sign that things have firmed up and your teeth aren't loose anymore...... but if you want to keep them, you will have to floss every day..Health Question & Answer
