I'm from the UK and went on the waiting list to get braces, a few years back.. I'm 16 now.. I went and they said I would have to have at least two teeth pulled out and I freaked out about it.. I am now 16 and have considered it more and would like to go back and ask again.. Would they do it.? I think it goes up until I am 18, since I am going college and I am going to continue with my education..
Anyone been to get on the list when they were 16.? I'm definately gonna ask, I really want a straight smile.. Its just the top part that I want done.. Thanks! xHealth Question & Answer

I was about 17 when I had fixed braces.. I had them both top and bottom.. I also had to have four teeth pulled out.. I felt the same way as you when I was informed by the orthodontist that I needed four teeth extracted..
I was awake when I had my teeth extracted.. I only had the local anaesthetic that numbs the surrounding area..
In honesty, I had fixed braces due to crowding but I also had a drooling problem due to an overbite.. It really affected me socially.. I now wear retainers but only at night..
You're not alone as there are other people who had teeth extracted before having the fixed braces fitted in.. I know that they feel the same way as you even those who are brave..
In the end, it's your choice.. The best thing for you is to have the fixed braces when you feel that you're ready and when the time is right..
also you're entitled to have free orthodontic treatment up to the age of 18..

Do it you will regret it later.. but insted of going on a waiting list try going to an nhs dentist that has an orthodontist.. the practice that i work at does.. you get them alot quiker and yes it is till your 18 or not a severe enough case.. having 2 teeth out is nothing compared to the regret if you did get it done.. iv had it done and am so glad where i have friends that got the choice turned it down and now wish they had had it done..Health Question & Answer
Im a lil confused about your question becoZ we dont have waiting list in the US, but Ive had braces for about 6 years, n I had like 3 teeth pulled out while I had them, it wasnt bad and i didnt have that messed up of teeth but trust me they are soo worth it.. Get braces at all costs......they could'nt be more worth it! I had them (and had to get teeth pulled) and I would regret it so much now if I hadn't gone through it.. Get the bottom done while you're at it.. You can't even notice you have them on!Health Question & Answer

I'm somebody who's had braces.. I had to have four teeth out and two fillings before they put them in, but i was put to sleep and it was fine.. Don't be scared, think how great your teeth will look afterwards.. Having braces isnt go bad either you know, i got used to it and found they really suited me.. Some girls worry about boys, etc, but i got a boyfriend when i had braces and he's still with me almost three years later! I got my braces taken out in January and my teeth look perfect! You feel so good just smiling!

They may put braces on both the top and bottom parts of your teeth if they feel you need it, as thats what happened to me.. But it was my bottom teeth that needed it.. They may do it on both so as your teeth stay in line when they move to be straight.. But not to worry - it'll be worth it!!!
