Okay, had a consultation [ sp.? ] with the orthodontist today, definatly getting braces.. With rubber bands too .. .. .. how much do they hurt.?

Ok I'm not sure if your question means the pain of the braces or the actual elastics, so I'll answer both..
When you get the braces on, you pretty much won't feel any pain.. It's just loud noises and some pressure but it doesn't hurt.. It will hurt quite a bit though, a few hours after you get them on.. I'd say the pain is 7/10.. To reduce the pain my advice is to take some panadol before you get the braces on and take some more afterwards when they begin to hurt.. You will find it hard to eat solid foods so try something like soup or ice cream..
This pain will probably last a few days, and slowly the pain will lesen, but the best thing you can do is keep taking panadol..
The rubber bands don't hurt.. I have to wear them too and they don't hurt but they're pretty annoying.. Just make sure you always wear them!! If you don't then your teeth will stay in the same place and they won't move, which means that you will have them on for longer..

When you first get the braces on they hurt because they feel really tight and they are moving your teeth so bad..........after about three days the pain calns down depending on how far they are trying to move them........scale of one to 10 i say a 3-5 there is alot worse things......pain is easily tamed by advil!!! I have had braces on for 8 years......you get used to eat..........the rubberbands hurt when they snap in your mouth........thats the only time they really hurt!!!!

Yes they hurt but only for a few days.. How much they hurt depends on where they are and how strong the rubber bands are..
