I had this happen to me once.. After repeated attempts to save the tooth, the last restoration failed.. It was a crown that had long screws attached to it and went down into the roots.. Over time, it got looser and looser until I was able to reach in and pull it out.. It left a tooth that was entirely below the gumline and I knew by then I would have to get it removed.. How the dentist did it with me was that he took out devices that looked like little crow bars and pried out the tooth.. It took about a half hour to complete.. Afterwards, I had to get a couple of stitches put into the gum to close up the wound.. This was the first time I ever had to get stitches after a tooth extraction.. I don't know which tooth of yours broke off but in my case it was a molar.. It could be done differently with a front tooth..Health Question & Answer

The very same thing happened to me!! I was so worried! He went in, after numbing me of course......and drilled into what was left of the tooth until he had something to grab onto and actually had to break the tooth (I never felt a thing) and pulled it out.. Make sure you are really numb! You don't feel pain, but you will feel him tugging....but it's over pretty quick..Health Question & Answer
