this helps the child to get used to the dentist, and visits are then normal, not scary!

I reckoned on about a month or two after the teeth came through, although it was probably closer to a year old when I took my son for his first check (had to wait on a list to get registered with an NHS dentist)..
He has had regular 6 month checks since then, though.. I also wonder whether taking them earlier rather than later helps them settle at dentist - my son is no bother and will happily let the dentist do thier job (oh, the joys of innocence!!)..Health Question & Answer

Some say first tooth or first birthday, but I would say once they have all of their baby teeth...... so about 2 or 3..
If you have any concerns about their teeth, such as baby bottle decay or, perhaps, they fell and hit their teeth, then take them sooner..

i brought my child at 4 a year before she started school just for check up and they coat the top of the teeth then with a layer of stuff to prevent tooth decay even though there only milk teeth it saves having to get any pulled at some stageHealth Question & Answer
My dentist recommended that I take my lil un' just as soon as the teeth start appearing, but definately a must from age 18 months on.. Try getting them to sit still though......nightmare lol..Health Question & Answer
