Every body is different and every body heals differently.. Bite down on gauze with firm pressure until the bleeding stops.. Be sure to slightly moisten the gauze and change it before it becomes soaked with blood.. It is not unusual to bleed for several hours, so don't worry if that happens.. If you start to notice thick clots of blood or heavy bleeding, call your dentist right away.. also, a caffeinated moistened tea bag will help constrict the vessels and stop the blood flow.. Do not use mouthwash for several days as that will just irritate the site.. Instead, rinse 4-5 times a day with warm salt water to keep it clean.. The pain will likely last for several days, but you can alleviate it with Tylenol or Advil..Health Question & Answer
If you bite on the thing they gave you until it stops bleeding it should last from 30 minutes to 3 hours.. I had mine taken out a few days a ago and it stopped bleeding about 3 hours after biting on it.. Mine still hurts though, so I'm not sure about the pain, take some pain killers..
