It doesn't hurt, but it's uncomfortable! You will hear some strange noises and they doc and assistant will be poking in your mouth.. also, you will want to brush your teeth ASAP.. Once they take the brackets off your molars, you will have a horrible taste in the back of your mouth.. They know this so they will let you rinse.. It took them about 30 minutes to take mine off, not counting the time it took to be measured for my retainer.. You will see that it was all worth it when your teeth are so straight they feel slimy............

It took about 15 minutes to get my braces taken off, and another 15 to have my teeth cleaned..
I don't remember the process hurting at all, but I cringed when they shaved the glue off of my teeth--it sounded like nails running across a blackboard..
Afterwards, you will have to get a molding done for a retainer, so we're looking at about a combined total of 1 hour sitting in the orthodontist's chair..
You shouldn't have much to worry about.. It's a fairly simple process, and you'll be licking your teeth all day! :)Health Question & Answer

it took about an hour to get my braces taken off.. And it feels really weird to not have your braces on and feel your teeth.. When my braces got taken off I thought my teeth were too big and white.. But it is such a relief to not have them on..Health Question & Answer
