I'm 16 and am due for a filling next week..
What am I to expect.? Will they put anasthetic and how long does it last.?

No.. They just fill up a hole a rough part of your tooth and it doesn't hurt at all.. No pain & No fuss.. It only takes a few minutes.. They clean the tooth, then they put the mixture in the hole or gap on the tooth and dry it with a blue light..Health Question & Answer
Okay well they put this gel stuff in your mouth and it will numb you then a needle will all so be place in your mouth and it will also numb you then they'll drill your tooth ( it doesn't hurt cause your numb but it will vibrate and might feel a little uncomfortable) but I hope this helps good luck next week!!!! :)Health Question & Answer
Every one is different.. Everyone has different pain thresholds.. Just touch my tooth with a drill and ill jump thru the roof.. Weve done root canal therapy (sticking a file down into the NERVE canal, on a LIVE tooth when the patient had NO anaesthetic! He was terrified of needles and refused to have one.. He was fine.. Happy as........(this isnt how all root canals are) Some cant stand the thought of the needle and will just brave it.... some dont feel a thing without a needle.. Sometimes its just the cold air and water that you feel and you mistake it for pain......
Personally i would rather have a needle so i can fully relax....
A dentist performs much better if he doesnt have to deal with nervous fidgets trying to slide off the end of the chair..........TRUST me!
Anaesthetic lasts from 1-4 hrs depending on how much they use..
It also depends on how calm your dentist is and how he talks you thru it.. People are automatically worked up before they even get in the chair! Theres so much bad publicity out there about dentists......99% of the time its a walk in the park.. Dont get worked up over it..Health Question & Answer

Fillings are totally not as bad as you expect..
I don't know what it is like under anesthetic because I've never had one done with that!
I think I'd pass out from the thought of a needle so I brave the pain and just have it normally........
My dentist is nice and if it hurts I just SCREAM and she will stop for a few minutes until I calm down and start again..
It lasts about 5 minutes, it's totally nothing to worry about!

If it is a surface cavity they probably won't have to numb you but if it is a little deeper than they will.. But they will put some numbing jelly up there first before they give you the shot.. Its like a pinch but not too bad over in 3 seconds.. Then they drill out the decay and fill it back up..Health Question & Answer

youll b fine just dont get silver amalgam filings though theey r the cheapest they r the most harmful......trust me as i say this ur life is important right.? do not get silver alamgam filings......ceramic or better filings ok god blessHealth Question & Answer
