Tooth tenderness because of elastics is only just bearable, it's the cuts and ulcers that really kill, for them drink lots of water and make sure you clean your teeth well..
The ache can be helped with a painkiller like Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, etc.. also, try (if you can) not to use the teeth that are sore and use others instead..

Try sticking to soft foods but other than that there is not much you can do, you will get use them soon enough but if you don't wear your elastics then you will just have your braces on for longer and no one wants that..Health Question & Answer
Anbesol and aspirin.. Stick to cold drinks for a while.. If these are brand new braces, it takes about a week to get accustomed to it.. If this is right after a tightening, it takes a day or two.. It will impove though..Health Question & Answer
