Question: Question about rubber bands and braces.?
My ortho said I need to wear rubber bands or else my front teeth will flare out.. I don't believe that, why would they flare out.? Can someone tell me.? And these rubber bands are retarded and annoying and I hate them! And how long would I have to wear them.?Health Question & Answer

if you don't wear your rubber bands like your ortho suggested your front teeth will look like bunny teeth or spongebob squarepants teeth I'm not being mean or anything because I used to have the same problem.. I had to wear braces for six years and rubber bands for three years and I survived, even though rubber bands seriously suck it will all be worth it in the end..Health Question & Answer
I'm not quite sure how they work or what they do, but most people end up wearing them for a time.. I had to wear them on the sides for a bit, but it was only for a while..
Better to just do as you're instructed and deal with it for a while instead of risking having braces for a lot longer than you'd originally have had to have them.. Really it's only those cheap little packs of rubber bands they hand out as easily had a dentist gives out floss, probably the cheapest part of it, if they were lying I would think they'd make it something they'd actually make more money on......Health Question & Answer

The whole elastic thing confuses me too.. Just try to wear them as much as you can tolerate them.. If you think you really don't need them, talk it over with the ortho.. Not everybody really needs them..Health Question & Answer
