Can I get dental work done under a general anaesthetic, on the NHS?!
Question: Can I get dental work done under a general anaesthetic, on the NHS.?
My dentist told me I need a couple of fillings, plus some old fillings replacing..
I am absolutely terrified of having dental work done though, after some nasty experiences when I was young (basically when the fillings were originally done the anaesthetic had no effect, so I was writhing around in excruciating pain the whole time, no matter how much extra anaesthetic they injected)..
Can I have this work done under a general anaesthetic instead.? And can I have it done on the NHS.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Basically you will not get a general cos it is a waste of time and money for a couple of fillings, you can get sedated which means you wont remember it and wont feel much pain but tbh just have the local anaesthetic and leave it at that..
The way i look at it is:
Is it better to have a soar mouth for the rest of you life.?
or is it better to have 20 minutes of a bit of pain for a painfree mouth.?

Absolutely !
Explain your fears to your dentist - and ask him to arrange it..
He has to respect your wishes when it comes to treatment and you have the right to have any treatment done under local or general anaestetic so long as there are no health issues on your part ! (Allergies to anaesthetic etc !)
Having said that - consider alternatives (hypnotherapy)Health Question & Answer
