Braces help???!
Question: Braces help.?.?.?
so i've been wearing rubber bands for about 2 months.. my orthodontist said that wearing the rubber bands will correct my bite.. however, i am honestly not seeing a difference at all! i know a bunch of people who don't wear their rubber bands at all, but i, literally, wear them 24/7.. i change them once to twice a day, like my orthodontist told me to.. i got my braces on in november 2006.. i'm just wondering why in the heck my bite isn't changing!!! and somedays, my teeth will get REALLY sore, so i think that they're moving.. so, basically, can anyone tell me why my bite hasn't changed at all.?.?.?Health Question & Answer

When I had my braces my orthodontist told me to wear the elastics 24/7 as well to fix my over bite.. I wore them just as he requested.. I ended up wearing them for 3 months straight and I noticed no changes either.. But when I went to visit him again he showed me a difference and swtiched me from wearing them 24/7 to night time only.. I'm sure that will happen to you too! that's really strange that it wouldn't...... have you asked the doctor why almost after 2 years there's no change.?
Is there any improvement at all.? If you had an awful bite and it's a little better, it just means you need more time, even though 2 years is pretty long..
Could you visit another orthodontist for a second opinion.? I would definitely complain with your current orthodontist though.. How long are you supposed to keep wearing those braces for.?.?.?

it takes about 6 months or more to see a difference.. when it hurts, it is working.. for me, they started me off wiith thin rubber bands which didnt do much except get my mouth used to moving kinda and i got used to the little pain.... then they gave me thick rubber bands which hurted more, but it worked better as well.. i think i had rubberbands for 6 mnths to a year before they said i could stop using them..Health Question & Answer
i had to do the same thing and you may not see the difference now but you will soon.. right after i got mine off everyone started to compliment my teeth.. its a great feeling so dont worry about the early results wait till the finalHealth Question & Answer

I had braces for nearly 5 years and had to wear rubber bands, spacers and head gear (at night).. I'm sure that your bite is changing because of the soreness.. I bet the people who refuse to wear the rubber bands don't have sore teeth and the end result will not be as effective..
Have faith in your orthodontist who fixes smiles for a living, had nearly a decade of professional training and makes a lot of money doing this for a living.. In the end you will have a beautiful smile that everyone will admire! When my teeth were sore, I'd put one Aspirin in my mouth and rub while it dissolved over my gums to deaden the pain..
BTW, when you get your braces taken off your teeth feel really slick because your so used to the metal..
